Aaron Azevedo- 17U Head Coach

Aaron graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Entrepreneurship from Iowa State University while playing for the Cyclones' ACHA D1 hockey team. Additionally obtaining minors in Management and Environmental Studies, Aaron has applied a driven education into a passionate future of developing student athletes. Prior to concluding at the collegiate level in 2019, Aaron's professional career yielded opportunities beyond his own capabilities by quickly training current NHL players and many of the players drafted the last couple years.

Through a reinvigorated passion within the game to teach, Aaron capped off a career as an ACHA Div. I Runner-up (2019, 2016), KIJHL League MVP (2015), and a Junior-Tier 3 National Champion (2012). 

Aaron was an inaugural player with the '94 International Selects, the Inland Northwest's first spring program founded by Tysen. Today, Aaron has coached eight spring seasons alongside Tysen leading to the eventual birth of the On Top HockeyClub (OTHC) in 2020. OT Hockey is a player development platform servicing the Northwest as the premier individual skills training and Spring Hockey program. Integrated with invitational opportunities for players to compete in exposure showcases throughout the spring and summer.

Behind the bench, Aaron completed his third season under the Wenatchee Development Teams, most recently coaching the 16u Minor and 14u Tier I teams. During his time, multiple players moved on to the CSSHL, Junior levels and were drafted in the WHL. 

As one of PowerEdge Pro's leading professional instructors, Aaron has worked with NHL superstars through youth hockey associations in the implementation of individual skills. Understanding situations and refining technique has allowed Aaron to become a leading skills coach for game application and drill innovation. 

 

Lane Mahoney-14U Head Coach

Lane Mahoney

Born and raised in Spokane, Washington, Lane played a majority of his junior hockey across North America. Most notably, as the Assistant Captain for two seasons with the Aberdeen Wings in the NAHL and attending Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota, where Lane earned his BA in Business Administration and won the NCAA Div III National Championship. 

 

Lane's love for the sport continued to grow during the off seasons, having the opportunity to work at various Minnesota Development programs. Returning home to Spokane in 2019, is where Lane's coaching career ignited an urge to return to the game through support of local development. Over the past three seasons, Lane has continued to grow with the individual skill development alongside OT Hockey; while accepting his first coaching job as an assistant coach with the Wenatchee Development Program.

 

This season, Lane is embracing the 14u Head Coaching position at the CDA Academy with an unwavering commitment to the team and growth of his players. Sharing resources and knowledge he's gained over the past few years and integrating with his background and passion for what is expected for his players future success. 

Tysen Azevedo- 12U Head Coach

Tysen Azevedo:

 

Tysen joins the Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy as a skill coach and 12U  Head Coach. With an extensive background in individual player development as a professional skills coach, Tysen will have the ability to offer a development path for younger players beginning at the CDA Academy and continue as they progress throughout the program. 

 

Growing up in Spokane and starting his Juniors with the Spokane Braves at age 15, Tysen’s career took him across Canada playing in the KIJHL, MJHL (Manitoba Jr. A), BCHL and finishing in Ontario. Following six seasons of juniors, Tysen began traveling working with the industry’s leading skating and skills companies. 

 

With 21 years of experience behind the bench and developing skills, Tysen has been involved in coaching at all levels and has specialized with Professional, Collegiate and Junior level players throughout the off season in individual skill acquisition. Beginning in 2017, Tysen took on the role as U.S Director of Power Edge Pro and began developing and implementing training curriculums with organizations and youth associations across the United States. Providing the on ice expertise in addition to the implementation and integration for the success of the programs player development, including notable programs such as Quinnipiac University, USNTDP U17/U18, Des Moines Buccaneers, Boston Jr. Eagles, Honey Baked, Anaheim Lady Ducks and many more.

 

Prior to joining CDA, Tysen spent the last 3 seasons with the Wenatchee Wild Development Teams coaching with the weekend model teams: U14 Tier 1, 12u AAA, and last season's U16 Minor team. During the weekdays Tysen has traveled to and from Phoenix, AZ where he was the Director for the Power Edge Pro- Arizona Skills Academy. Joining CDA offers Tysen and the players a more centralized environment to achieve their hockey aspirations.

 

Wenatchee Cup 18U Champions!

The CDA Hockey Academy had a successful weekend at the Wenatchee Cup Tournament. They went 3-1 in round robin and posted 3 shutouts in their wins vs RHA, Seattle Jr Kraken and Wasatch. The final game was played vs RHA where CDA played their best game of the weekend and shutout RHA 4-0 in the championship game. 

 

From head coach Jeremy Mylymok: "The team played their best games of the season, and they were rewarded for their efforts all weekend. It's always nice to win and to do it in convincing fashion made it that much more rewarding. Learning how to win is important for these young players and when you play the right way you often get rewarded in this game. Congrats to our U18's and job well done!"
